Ole Olson the older, who took on the name, Ole F. Førde - he who was shot in the arm during the Indian attack - first went to Knut Mestad’s hous, where de didn’t find anybody, but was able to bandage his arm, then he continued on and went to Taraldson’s hous, which was being built, and warned them. He was treated by a doctor in Sprint Lake, but the doctor wanted to amputate the arm. This, the mother would not allow. After this, he was treated by Dr. Billington of Decorah, Iowa and he recovered. In 1873 he entered matrimony with Betsie Nilsdatter Gilderhus, daughter of Koshkonong’s first pioneer Nils Sjurson Gilderhus. First, they claimed a homestead, but sold this, and Ole was worked for the Great Northern Railway since. He lived in Wyndmere, North Dakota, in 1929 - and has seven children.
