Richard Ellef Ayoade (born 12 June 1977) is an English actor, comedian, writer, director and television presenter. He is best known for his role as the socially awkward IT technician Maurice Moss in Channel 4 sitcom The IT Crowd, for which he won the 2014 BAFTA for Best Male Comedy Performance, and as Dean Learner in Garth Marenghi's Darkplace.
He has directed two feature films – Submarine (2010) and The Double (2013) – as well as various music videos for bands including Arctic Monkeys, Vampire Weekend, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Kasabian.
Ayoade has often worked alongside Noel Fielding, Julian Barratt, Matt Berry and Rich Fulcher in shows such as The Mighty Boosh and Nathan Barley. He was a team captain on panel show Was It Something I Said? in 2013.
Ayoade presents the factual shows Gadget Man and its spin-off Travel Man, and the revival of The Crystal Maze.
